FREDERICK COUNTY, Va. - Virginia State Police are investigating a road rage incident that happened between two vehicles earlier this month along Interstate-81, involving a tire iron.

The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 on I-81 southbound near the 307 mile marker.

Troopers say the two vehicles involved were a 2007 gray Chevrolet SUV, driven by a 26-year-old white female. The second vehicle was described as a 1990's Chevrolet pickup truck, dark blue or black in color, with a ladder rack. Police say the pickup driver was described as a white male, slender build, with graying hair in his 40's.

According to police, after the initial altercation both vehicles exited the interstate. When both vehicles were stopped at the traffic light at the end of the off-ramp the driver of the pickup truck got out of his vehicle with a tire iron and went up to the passenger side of the SUV and broke out the woman's passenger window.

The female driver of the SUV then sprayed the pickup driver with mace. Troopers say the pickup driver was last seen leaving the area westbound on Rt. 277.

This case is currently under investigation by Trooper J.M. Myers. Police say anyone that may have witnessed or has any information about this incident is asked to call Trooper Myers at 540-662-3313 or VSP at 540-829-7771.
