WHAG's Carmen Chau had the opportunity to talk with Tim Kelchner in Sochi, who talks about security, the opening ceremony and the Olympians' thoughts.
HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia is officially underway and the long-anticipated opening ceremony took place Friday evening.

It is just the beginning of the winter games and countries around the world are already competing hard for the gold medal.

WHAG's Carmen Chau had the opportunity to briefly talk to Tim Kelchner Saturday morning as he was live in Sochi. Kelchner touches on the atmosphere of the opening ceremony, in terms of its visuals.

Once Olympians arrived to the stadium, Kelchner says the athlete's mindset was immediately on giving their best performance to grab the gold. Security has also been a widely-discussed subject given the past events.

Kelchner reassures safety was number one on the Russians' list; while there was the hijacking incident, security continues to be tight ensuring every Olympians' safety.
