After some sunshine with a mix of clouds on Saturday, we are looking at our first major winter storm heading for the region with snow/sleet and ice accumulations.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the following counties from 8:00 AM Sunday to 10:00 AM Monday...

In Maryland: Allegany, Frederick & Washington
In West Virginia: Berkeley, Eastern Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, Eastern Mineral & Morgan
In Virginia: Clarke, Frederick, Loudoun, Page, Shenandoah & Warren

The Winter Storm Watch remains in effect for all Southern Pennsylvania Counties, and a Winter Weather Advisory is also in effect for the same time frame for the following counties:

In Maryland: Garrett
In West Virginia: Western Grant & Western Mineral

Here is what we're expecting as we get into the late weekend...

* Sleet & Snow will develop Sunday Morning and last into Sunday Afternoon... 1-3 inches of snow/sleet are possible during this time frame

* Sleet & Snow will change over to freezing rain as we get into Sunday Afternoon & Evening and into early Monday Morning... up to a 1/4" of ice accumulation is possible, with some areas seeing up to 1/2" ice accumulation.

The forecast models are in good agreement with this storm system bringing the wintry weather into the area as we get into Sunday and Monday.
