Winter Weather Advisories Issued; Wintry Mix Likely Friday Late Morning-Evening

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for our western zones with the entire area seeing a light wintry mix.
HAGERSTOWN, MD - A light wintry mix of precipitation is expected Friday into Friday evening.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for Garrett County until 10pm Friday.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for Allegany, Hamphsire, Hardy, Mineral, Grant, Somerset, Bedford Counties until 10am Saturday for a coating to 1" of snow and sleet with a glaze of ice possible.

A light wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain will arrive by 6am in the Potomac Highlands and Western Maryland. The spotty light snow and sleet will move to the east by 9-10am.

Right now, these counties under the Winter Weather Advisory have the best chance to see both some light accumulation and slippery road conditions, however the entire region will see some of this wintry mix.

The precipitation will start late Friday morning as light snow, then begin to mix over to sleet. Some light freezing drizzle is expected overnight Friday with a glaze of ice possible.

Overall, this is a minor winter weather event, but because of the timing and the possibility of some ice, it could cause some travel issues on Friday anywhere across the region.
