The Valley Health Employer Summit drew in a packed crowd at the Holiday Inn with business leaders eager to learn about current challenges.

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Valley Health Employer Summit drew in a packed crowd at the Holiday Inn with business leaders eager to learn about current challenges.

Many employees were pleased to learn about aspects of unexpected violence in the workplace.

"The presentation was a good one, good presentation we deal with that in the truck industry so it was great to go over all of that. Good information for everybody," said Aimee Brice, a business leader.

A main focus of the summit was preparing for change: understanding the details of the affordable care act.

Organizers of the event say the main message was to explain to local employers how the affordable care act will impact businesses and employees.

The presentation explained a lot of need-to-know information about the act for employers, like how different provisions of the law will affect them in the next several years.

"Based on the way in which we have to comply with the law. It's important for employers to think of that now," said Adam Solander, one of the presenters of the summit.
