Fire Causes Extensive Damage to Frederick County Home

Fire officials say they responded to reports of the house fire around 5 p.m. Sunday at 24 Jeffrey Lane.
FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - Frederick County Fire and Rescue says a Brunswick family is looking at thousands of dollars worth in damage after their home caught fire Sunday evening. 

Fire officials say they responded to reports of the house fire around 5 p.m. at 24 Jeffrey Lane. The first arriving unit said fire was visible from the rear of the two-story family home. 

Officials say the bulk of the fire was put out around 5:28 p.m. and firefighters continued to extinguish hot spots and monitor conditions. No one was reported hurt in the fire. 

Initial damage estimates place the total loss at $250,000. Officials say the American Red Cross offered assistance to the residents displaced by the blaze. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. 

Firefighters say they will be returning to the neighborhood Monday evening from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. offering free smoke alarms, replacement batteries and safety information to residents.
