Fire Marshal Investigating House Fire in Cascade

The blaze happened around 4:32 p.m. Wednesday on 14620 Olsen Lane in Cascade, Washington County. The homeowner, William Coyle, discovered the the fire.
CASCADE, Md. - Officials with the Maryland State Fire Marshal are investigating a house fire in Cascade.

The blaze happened around 4:32 p.m. Wednesday on 14620 Olsen Lane in Washington County. The homeowner, William Coyle, discovered the fire. 

Fire officials determined the blaze started in the kitchen after a toaster malfunctioned and ignited nearby objects that spread to the cabinets. The fire was contained to the kitchen, and was under control on arrival. 

Around 32 firefighters responded to the scene from Smithsburg, Franklin County, Pa., Station 4, Adams County PA Station 3, Franklin County PA Station 19 Franklin County PA Station 2 and Frederick County. 

Pictured above is a photo sent in from one of our viewers from that scene. Fire officials say no one was inside of the house when they arrived, and that no one was injured. 

Estimated total loss of damages are around $5,000 to the structure of the house and $15,000 in materials inside the house.
