SHARPSBURG, Md. - New information Friday evening on a fire that displaced a mother and her young son in Sharpsburg. 

Fire investigators believe it was intentionally set. The fire broke out around 11:44 a.m. Thursday at a one-story home in the 1700 block of Taylors Landing Road. 

Mutiple crews responded to the scene from Sharpsburg, Williamsport, Boonsboro, Funkstown, Halfway, Jefferson County Co. 3 W.Va., Special Ops 20 and Air Unit and Rehab Unit 255. 

It took 40 firefighters roughly 10 minutes to extinguish the flames near the inside rear entrance door. No one was injured, but the fire caused some $50,000 in damages. Fire officials say the house did have smoke detectors, but they were not working.
