Four Sent to Hospital I-70 Crash

Four people were injured in a single vehicle accident on Interstate-70 in Frederick County Thursday night.
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Four people were injured in a single vehicle accident along Interstate-70 in Frederick County. 

Police say the crash happened on the eastbound lanes near Myersville around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.   

State Police said the driver of a Chevrolet truck, Gary Thomas, 20, was attempting to change lanes when he swerved to avoid hitting something in the roadway. Police say Thomas lost control and hit the guardrail several times before sliding down an embankment. The truck then caught on fire. 

Thomas and three passengers, Joseph Morris, 20, Joseph Brees, 20, and Dalton Skinnings, 19, were all injured.  Thomas was flown from the scene to Shock Trauma center in Baltimore. The other three passengers were taken by ambulance to Meritus Medical Center. 

The interstate remained closed for an extended period of time as police investigated.
