Frederick Man Charged in Summer Armed Robbery

It happened on July 27, 2013 in the area of W 2nd Street and N Bentz Street.
FREDERICK, Md. - Officers have charged a Frederick man in connection to an armed robbery that happened over the summer. 

The incident happened on July 27, 2013 in the area of W 2nd Street and N Bentz Street. 

The victim told officers a man displayed a handgun, pointed it toward them and demanded the victim's belongings. The man was able to flee the scene with the victim's cell phone and an undisclosed amount of cash. 

Throughout the investigation the man was identified as 26-year-old Ronald Pierre Smaw Jr. An arrested warrant was made charging him with one count of armed robbery, robbery, using a firearm in a violent crime, reckless endangerment and two counts of assault. 

Smaw was served the warrant Wednesday morning while being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center on an unrelated incident.
