Frederick Man Faces Numerous Drug Charges

Deputies with the Frederick County Sheriff's Office say a Frederick man is behind bars in connection to distributing and manufacturing heroin.
FREDERICK, Md. - Deputies with the Frederick County Sheriff's Office say a Frederick man is behind bars in connection to distributing and manufacturing heroin. 

Deputies say James Edward Owens was taken into custody around 7:21 p.m. Tuesday. 

According to the sheriff's office, Dep. Sier was conducting a patrol check of the Riverview Plaza on Urbana Pike, when he saw a vehicle parked in a remote section of the lot. As he passed, Dep. Sier reported he smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

Deputies say the driver was identified as Owens. During a search of Owen's vehicle Dep. Sier found suspected 9.1 grams of marijuana and a large bundle of individually packaged heroin. The narcotics were seized as evidence. 

Owens is charged with possession of marijuana and manufacturing and distributing heroin. He's been taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for processing.
