MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - One man stabbed, and another facing charges in Martinsburg. Police say that was the result of a fight over a woman Sunday night.

Police say it all happened right outside the Olive Garden near the Martinsburg Mall. They say Kevin Antwane Hendricks, of Martinsburg, is accused of taking a box cutter and stabbing another man.

"They were simply driving around the mall loop," said Sgt. S.F. Funkhouser of Martinsburg City Police. "It was from what we understand, an ex-boyfriend saw the girlfriend with a new boyfriend and confronted him. That's what started the altercation."

Police say all this went down around 8 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses say Hendricks pulled the man from his car and started fighting. Police also say Hendricks then pulled out a box cutter, stabbing the man multiple times. Police say he was taken to Berkeley Medical Center for treatment.

"I believe a 26-year-old male, that was lying beside a Chevy Tahoe, sustained three stab wounds to upper leg to lower torso area," said Funkhouser.

Police say Hendricks fled the scene, then about an hour later arrived at the Martinsburg Police Department to give his side of the story. He was then taken in custody.

"According to the defendant Mr. Hendricks, yes they were involved in a fight," said Funkhouser. "He stated he pulled the box cutter in self defense."

Hendricks is charged with malicious wounding. Hendricks was booked and taken to the Eastern Regional Jail in Martinsburg. He's since posted bond and was released.
