Greencastle Man Pleads Guilty to Theft Charges

Court officials say James Vanwinkle lead officers on a car chase after robbing a local bank back in March.
FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - Court officials say a Greencastle man pleaded guilty to felony theft charges Monday in connection to a car chase and robbery in March. 

The State's Attorney's Office of Frederick County says James Vanwinkle, 37, of Greencastle, Pa.,  is charged with one count of felony theft between $1,000 - $10,000 and one count of fleeing and eluding police. 

As we reported, Vanwinkle was found in the 400 block of North Main Street in Greenville, South Carolina, after being wanted throughout the state of Maryland for robbing the SunTrust Bank on Rosemont Avenue and leading police on a car chase. 

Police say Vanwinkle had displayed a note to the teller demanding cash and then fled the area with $2,000. 

Vanwinkle is currently being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
