Hagerstown City Administrator Announces Retirement

After serving for two decades, one Hagerstown official is saying goodbye and announcing his retirement.
HAGERSTOWN, Md. - After serving for two decades, one Hagerstown official is saying goodbye and announcing his retirement. 

City Administrator Bruce Zimmerman says he'll be retiring from his position in June of 2015. 

The Indiana native was appointed by Mayor and Council to serve as City Administrator back in 1994. Zimmerman says he has mixed emotions on retiring but is also looking forward to the future. 

The Mayor and Council are scheduled to approve a one year contract extension at the end of the month. 

In a written statement, Mayor David Gysberts said, "Mr. Zimmerman has led the city with humility and integrity, always acting in the interest of the health, safety and betterment of the entire community on behalf of the city council and all Hagerstown citizens."
