HAGERSTOWN, Md. - It's named the most beautiful city park in the United States by escape-here.com, and perhaps one of Hagerstown's best kept secrets.
"We just got here we're getting ready to visit the city park, we understand it's one of the most outstanding in the nation, so we decided to visit that," says tourist Michael Abernethy.
Hagerstown City Park is recognized by the website Escapehere.com for its overall design and beauty.
Kathy Reed of the Washington County Convention and Visitor's Bureau says once tourists visit this historic location, so many of them return for another visit.
"They will come back to see it or write us to tell us how much they enjoyed it because it really is a beautiful spot," says Reed.
Reed describes the park as a family oriented environment centered around a spectacular lake.
"The lake is beautiful when it freezes over, as I'm sure it will this year. We have ducks and geese and things like that," Reed explains.
"I always come here every season to see the ducks and the water and the trees and everything around," says local resident Lexy Ricketts.
A city park bringing sparkle to the community, year-round.
