Hagerstown Man Arrested For Selling Stolen Property

Deputies arrested Herbert Williams, 39, after they received information Williams was seeking to sell a stolen firearm from a garage on the 600 block of West Washington Street.
HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Washington County Sheriff's Office arrested a Hagerstown man in connection with selling stolen property, including a firearm. 

Deputies arrested Herbert Williams, 39, after they received information Williams was seeking to sell a stolen firearm from a garage on the 600 block of West Washington Street. The firearm was believed to have been stolen during a burglary at a home on Broadfording Road. 

Utilizing an undercover office, deputies say they were able to positively identify the firearm in Williams' possession as the stolen weapon. 

On Thursday, Jan. 16 the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Hagerstown Police Department, Washington County Narcotics Task Force and the Washington COunty Special Response Team executed a search warrant of buildings Williams used to store property. 

Police found numerous pirated movies, suspected counterfeit purses and coats in addition to the stolen firearm. 

Williams is charged with theft over $1,000 and felon in possession of a firearm.
