HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Hagerstown Police Department is investigating a homicide that happened around 4:30 a.m. Sunday at 24 1/2 West Franklin Street.

Police say they found 18-year-old Jalonte Davonne Thomas-Leach in the first-floor hallway of an apartment building with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to Meritus Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say they believe 20-year-old Shakeem Tradwell Miles stabbed Jalonte. Miles has been charged with first degree murder, second degree murder, first degree assault, second degree assault, and reckless endangerment.

Authorities say Miles also suffered stab wounds at the same place the deceased victim was found, but they say they do not know who stabbed Miles at this time. They say Miles has been released from Meritus Medical Center where he was treated for injuries and is currently in police custody.

Police say the individuals involved in the stabbing knew each other. They say the isolated incident was the culmination of an ongoing dispute between multiple parties.

Police say the early morning dispute was the third disturbance involving this group they have responded to within the past few days.

The investigation is still ongoing, and anyone with information on this homicide is asked to call the Hagerstown Police Department.
