Investigators: robber was after synthetic marijuana

The Frederick County Bureau of Investigation is looking into an attempted gas station robbery that happened earlier this month.
JEFFERSON, Md. – The Frederick County Bureau of Investigation is looking into an attempted gas station robbery that happened earlier this month. The attempted robbery happened at the BP station in the 4600 block of Lander Road in Jefferson on August 8.

According to a press release, a man entered the store around 10:30 p.m. and asked for several packs of synthetic marijuana with a value of $350.

The man began yelling and lifted his shirt to show what appeared to be a handgun tucked in his waistband when the clerk refused to hand over the merchandise, according to investigators.

The man then fled the scene without taking anything, the press release said.

Investigators released a surveillance image of the person they think is responsible and are asking anyone with information to please contact police.
