Lets Get Beard: Cops Grow Beards for Good Cause

Things are looking a little more hairy in Jefferson County, West Virginia.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, W.Va. - Things are looking a little more hairy in Jefferson County, West Virginia.

For the month of November Jefferson County officers are ditching the clean shaven policy for the "Beards for Kids" Campaign. For a donation of $25, officers will be allowed to grow a full beard until December 1, 2013. All donations will be given to the Martinsburg Safe Haven Child Center, which specializes in investigating crimes against children.

"What we had found was that people noticed the beard and asked us why we were growing beards, which is unusual,  because of our clean shaven policy and they also wanted to donate and support the cause," said Lt. David Colbert, Jefferson County.

Donations can be mailed to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, or online at www.youcaring.com/beardsforkids
