Man Arrested After Having Child Commit Crime

Police say Jose Garcia-Aragon had a 10-year-old child push a shopping cart outside of the Walmart on South Pleasant Valley Road Wednesday night, without paying for any of the items.

WINCHESTER, Va. - Police say Jose Garcia-Aragon had a 10-year-old child push a shopping cart outside of the Walmart on South Pleasant Valley Road Wednesday night, without paying for any of the items.

Officers made contact with the suspect behind a fast food restaurant in that area and around the time they received the call they actually got a call that a 10-year-old was almost hit by a car in that area,” said Lauren Cummings of the Winchester Police Department.

Police say this is the second time Garcia-Aragon is facing charges for contributing to the delinquency of a minor for a similar incident. The first incident took place back in October.  Garcia-Aragon now faces shoplifting, drunk in public, obstruction of justice, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and child endangerment charges.

Police say they’re now focusing on that area near the Apple Blossom Mall after they’ve seen a number of shoplifting cases.

We do see a number of shoplifters at this location and also a number of stores throughout Winchester and we do have plans to step up our patrols and crack down on the shoplifters,” said Cummings.
Police say the man and the child are not related. The man was taken to the Northwestern Regional Detention Center.

This is an on going investigation, anyone with information can contact Winchester Police at (540)-545-7548.
