JEFFERSON COUNTY, W.Va. -A California man has been arrested for allegedly making terrorist threats towards a local online university's staff.
Police arrested David Alford, a student at the American Public University in Charles Town after they say he allegedly made threats towards university staff members, referencing to the recent Navy Yard shooting.
Police say Alford empathized with the Navy Yard gunman and all veterans who lash-out violently.
Officers say Alford was charged with a felony Friday evening after boarding a plane in California and flying to Charleston, where he was taken into custody while allegedly attempting to find transportation to Charles Town.
Alford, who was charged in Jefferson County, is being held at South Central Regional Jail in Charleston on $25,000 bail. If convicted Alford faces one to three years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000.
