MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Officers with the Martinsburg City Police Department are investigating an early morning robbery Tuesday at a local pharmacy in Martinsburg.

It happened around 4:06 a.m. at the CVS on Edwin Miller Boulevard.

Officers say when they arrived on the scene an elderly woman who works as a clerk told police a man had entered the store and pointed a pistol at her. She told police he demanded she open the cash drawer, and hand over the money inside.

The clerk told the man she couldn't just open the cash drawer. Police say the man then came around the corner, shoved her out of the way, and attempted to break into the register. They say he was unsuccessful. He was able to get another cash drawer, however it was empty. Police believe he did not know this at the time.

The man then fled the store, exiting the front entrance and into the parking lot.

Officers say he's described as small in stature, with a thin build about 5'5", wearing a long sleeve shirt, with light colored pants and black gloves. He was also last seen wearing a Halloween style mask.
