Man on the Loose in Grocery Store Robbery

It happened on Sunday evening around 9:30 p.m. at the Powell's Grocery along Route 36 in Lonaconing.
ALLEGANY COUNTY, Md. - Deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff's Office along with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit say one man is on the loose after allegedly robbing a local grocery store over the weekend. 

It happened on Sunday evening around 9:30 p.m. at the Powell's Grocery along Route 36 in Lonaconing. 

Deputies say the man approached the cashier with his hand in his pocket, as if he had a handgun, and demanded all the cash in the register. They say the cashier gave the man an undisclosed amount of money. The man then fled the store in an unknown direction. Deputies say no gun was actually displayed. 

The sheriff's office along with the Maryland State Police K9 unit searched the area, but the man was not found. 

The suspect is described as wearing a brown Carhartt jacket, blue jeans and a black ski mask.
