Martinsburg Man Charged with Assaulting Police Officer

A Martinsburg man is facing several charges after police say he brought a Samurai sword to the police department.
BERKELEY COUNTY, W.Va. - A Martinsburg man is facing several charges after police say he brought a Samurai sword to the police department. 

Officers say John Henry Terrell showed up to the police department Saturday afternoon with the sword. They say Terrell then told officers to shoot him so he could go to the Martinsburg Veterans Affairs Medical Center. 

After a brief struggle, officers arrested the 41-year-old. 

He's currently being held at the Eastern Regional Jail on several charges, including assaulting a police officer.
