FREDERICK, Md. - A new initiative called "Memory Cafe" just launched in Frederick. It's providing a place for families to dine out in peace with loved ones who have any kind of memory, cognitive or physical impairment.

The Frederick County Department of Aging and the Alzheimer's Association teamed up with Tranquility Assisted Living and Home Instead Senior Care to start-up "Memory Cafe." The idea is to create a safe environment that focuses on socializing and support.

"Memory Cafe" will meet the third Friday of every month, starting September 20 at 11:30 a.m. at the Frederick Senior Center's "Friendship Cafe." Each participant will receive a coupon valued at $2.50 toward their lunch.

The Frederick Senior Center is at 1440 Taney Avenue. Reservations are requested but walk-ins are welcome. RSVP to Mary or Mindy at 301.600.6001.

For additional information about this or other Department of Aging programs please call 301.600.1605 or go to their website.
