Middle School Evacuated After Fire Reported in Bathroom

It happened around 11:55 a.m. at Ballenger Creek Middle School in Frederick.
FREDERICK, Md. - One local middle school had to be briefly evacuated Monday morning after officials say a fire broke out in one of the school’s bathrooms.

It happened around 11:55 a.m. at Ballenger Creek Middle School in Frederick.

Frederick County Public School officials say the school was quickly evacuated, and crews were able to extinguish the small fire on arrival.

Fire crews gave officials the 'all clear' to reenter school around 12:30 Monday. No students or staff were injured during the incident, and the school returned to operating as normal.

As of 3 p.m., the State Fire Marshal were still on the scene investigating the cause of the blaze.
