Middletown, Va. - Middletown Virginia fired Treasurer Stacey Harrison in a four to one vote Monday night.
Harrison was new to the position, having only served the community since October 21, 2013.
Shortly after she was appointed, Harrison discovered missing funds.
Now the town is under investigation by Virginia State Police for embezzlement.
None of the council members responsible for voting for or against Harrison are commenting , adding more mystery to Harrison’s abrupt firing.
Middletown Mayor Charles Harbaugh commented on the incident stating, "I was not for the firing of our Treasurer. I thought she did a nice job so far with the town. However, the vote was four to one, and I wish her the best on her job search."
