HAGERSTOWN, Md. -- Caffeine lovers can celebrate National Coffee Day with free and discounted coffee on Sunday at participating locations.

According to a report by the National Coffee Association, 83 percent of U.S. adults drink coffee and 63 percent admit they have their coffee fix daily.

The NCA said that Coffee was found in the Ethiopian highlands. The legend said that Kaldi, the goatherd, noticed his goats were not sleeping at night after they ate berries from certain trees.

Kaldi shared the berries with the abbot at a local monastery, who made a drink with the berries, which kept him up for a long period of time. The drink, trees and berries moved east and spread across the world to become the global industry it is today.
