MARTINSBURG, W. Va--There is a new place to check out the work of local artist in Martinsburg.
The Berkeley Art works is on North Queen Street in downtown.
"There is something about creating a work of art until you have really experienced it, you don't quite understand," said Malinda Shaver of Berkeley Arts Council. "You get involved with it, you get committed to it, then you get passionate about it."
Malinda Shaver said art enthusiasts will have a chance to see paintings, photographs and sculptures created by local artists. The Berkeley Art Works is sponsored by the Berkeley County Arts Council.
"People know where to find us on regular basis," said Shaver. "We have done activities in the mall, parking lots, schools and various things, but now we have our space,"
Officials also said Berkeley Art Works will be a place where local artists from the four-state can display their talents and show the public of what they have to offer."Arts is one of the things that we thrive on working with artists locally, because it does showcase their work, their talent, and also brings people in the downtown area to see their works," said Randy Lewis of Main Street Martinsburg.
The arts facility is open from Thursday through Sunday and classes begin on August 26th. Residents are encouraged to sign on by registering on line or stopping by here at the facility.
Officials say new paintings will be displayed every month.
