Officer Injured After Driver Falls Asleep Behind Wheel and Collides with Cruiser

The crash happened around 4 a.m. on the Route 9 bypass between Wiltshire Road and Currie Road.
RANSON, W.Va. - A police officer was injured early Monday morning after a vehicle collided with his police cruiser.

The crash happened around 4 a.m. on the Route 9 bypass between Wiltshire Road and Currie Road.

Investigators say the driver of the car fell asleep behind the wheel before colliding with the officer's vehicle.

The officer was taken to Jefferson Medical Center with minor injuries. Officials say he has already been released and is in good health.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the accident.
