One Flown to Hospital After Motorcycle Chase Ends in Crash

Deputies say the motorcyclist, Jess W. Daugherty, 19, did not stop and continued down Butterfly Lane where the motorcycle went off the roadway, striking a fence and guardrail.
FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - Deputies with the Frederick County Sheriff's Office say a Knoxville teen was flown to the hospital late Monday night after he led officers on a chase that ended in a serious crash. 

According to the sheriff's office, Dfc. Kevin Lynch was patrolling the area of Elmer Derr Park and Ride when he saw a motorcycle speeding eastbound on U.S. 340. Dfc. Lynch began to follow to motorcyclist from U.S. 340 to Butterfly Lane, and attempted to pull over the motorcycle. 

Deputies say the motorcyclist, Jess W. Daugherty, 19, did not stop and continued down Butterfly Lane where the motorcycle went off the roadway, striking a fence and guardrail. 

Maryland State Police Aviation transported Daugherty to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma for treatment. Police say Daugherty was driving a 2010 Kawasaki Ninja without a Class M motorcycle license. 

The investigation is ongoing.
