It happened on Rosemont Avenue at Rocky Springs Road around 10 a.m.
FREDERICK, Md. - Frederick City Police say multiple roads were shut down Friday morning due to a major accident reported in the area.

It happened on Rosemont Avenue at Rocky Springs Road around 10 a.m.

Police say the accident involved a SUV and box truck. They say Rosemont Avenue was shut down in both directions between Montevue Lane and Tuscanny Drive for several hours while police reconstructed the accident.

Police say one man has been taken to the hospital in Hagerstown.

"It's a pretty severe accident. The smaller sub struck the rear of the larger truck causing extensive front end damage. The ambulance crew and the firefighters had to extricate the individual in the driver's seat," said Lt. Clark Pennington, Frederick Police Department.

The extent of the man's injuries are unknown at this time.
