Pa. State Police say "More Abused Could Come Forward"

Court documents show the Chambersburg coach showed more than one juvenile pornography, exposed himself, and also solicited one of the boys for sexual acts.
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Shawn Ranck of Chambersburg is behind bars facing several sexual abuse charges.

Court documents show at least one teenage boy was sexually abused in the spring of 2012 and winter of 2012, when the boy was 14 or 15 years old.

"The accused in this cause is facing criminal attempt, involuntarily sexual charges, corruption of minors and indecent assault charges," said Lt. Robert Johnson of the Pennsylvania State Police.

Police say the boy says the abuse took place at Ranck's house in Franklin County. The man is said to have shown more than one juvenile pornography, exposed himself, and also solicited one of the boys for sexual acts. Police say it's possible other boys could have been abused.

"It's our hope if there's anyone else out there that may have been a victim that they contact us," said Lt. Johnson.

Officials say cases like this one are becoming more common in the commonwealth.

"It's becoming rather commonplace in this county and counties across the commonwealth. It's our thinking we will probably have additional victims, that's no guarantee, but given past history with incidents like this we anticipate that may be the case," said Lt. Johnson.

Court documents also show Ranck gave the minor alcohol and made him promise to never tell anyone what happened.

Anyone with information should contact Pennsylvania State Police.
