JEFFERSON COUNTY, WV - A Jefferson County man was struck and killed by a train Wednesday morning in Jefferson County.

Officials say 51-year-old John Kinner died after a CSX train hit him.

Fire and Rescue say the incident happened at Shenandoah Junction Road close to Ridge Road after 5 a.m.

Officials were on the scene for about two hours investigating and determined the incident was not a suicide.

Family members told Sgt. Robert Sell of the Jefferson County Sheriff's office Kinner usually walked the tracks on his way to work.

According to Sgt. Sell, Kinner normally encounters trains running westbound, but this train came in the opposite direction, behind the victim.

Officials say the only witness was the conductor of the CSX train, who told officials he blew the horn multiple times before the impact.

Officials say Kinner died on the scene.
