Police Continue to Investigate Homicide in Franklin County

A brazen crime on Christmas morning left one man dead, another hospitalized, and put a suspect behind bars.

Franklin County, Pa.— A brazen crime on Christmas morning left one man dead, another hospitalized, and put a suspect behind bars.

“I’m sure it is not how people wanted to wake up on Christmas morning,” said Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Robert Hicks. “It is certainly an unfortunate event.”

Wednesday, Police say Janorris Hughes burst into a home on Mt. Cydonia Rd. armed with an assault rifle and attempted to rob the men inside. During the attempted robbery, investigators say Hughes got into some sort of scuffle with Terry Fulton.

“During that scuffle, the individual got shot multiple times at. Then the robber and the guy who got shot ran out of the house,” said Trooper Hicks.

Fulton suffered 3 gunshot wounds and was taken to York Hospital.

“One of the guys living inside the house was able to get control of a rifle and he went after the guy who came in to rob the house. He ended up shooting that individual, killing him,” said Hicks.

Police have identified that gunman as Mickel Shaffer. Shaffer is being held at the Franklin County Jail without bond. He will be appear in court for a preliminary hearing on December 30th.
