Police Continue to Investigate Unsolved Murder

Lamont Ellis, of Urbana, was shot to death in Mullinix Alley on September 30, 2012.
FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - Police continue to put together the pieces of an unsolved murder in Frederick that happened exactly one year ago.

Jennifer Sisler often goes through a scrapbook of the memories she made with her soul mate Lamont Ellis.

"It's a piece of them," Sisler said. "You have memories, but to hold onto something physical of theirs, it really bring on a different meaning."

The flowers in her kitchen have a different meaning because they're from Ellis' funeral. The 36-year-old father of three, from Urbana, was murdered on September 30th, 2012. Sisler and Ellis have a son together, Jaylen, who's now two years old.

"I'm just doing the best I can to keep myself going, to keep my son going, and I have the voice of Lamont in my head saying, 'Make sure you take care of my son,' and that's what he would want," Sisler said.

Ellis was shot to death in Mullinix Alley. Frederick City Police believe someone saw something that night or knows about the crime, and they're asking for anyone with information to come forward. Police say Ellis was out with friends in Frederick when he was attacked and killed.

"We still have evidence that we're still examining. We're still in the process. There was a lot of evidence that was sent out and a lot of evidence that came back, so we are still going through evidence at this time," says Det. Sgt. Joe Hayer, with the Frederick City Police Department.

Investigators don't have a reason to believe Ellis knew his killer, but they and Ellis' family are hoping someone else does.

"I just want someone to come forward. I feel like somebody knows something, and for his family, for his children, for his friends, we need the justice for him," Sisler said.

Anyone who has information on the homicide of Lamont Ellis is urged to call Frederick City Police at 301-600-TIPS (8477).

Ellis' family has put together a $3,000 for information leading to the arrest of a suspect.
