Police Suspect Drowning Cause of Death at Bentonville Low Water Bridge

Deputies say they received the call around 4:52 p.m. for the report of a cardiac arrest at the bridge. The 53-year-old man had been pulled from the water by family and construction workers that were in the area.
WARREN COUNTY, Va. - Deputies with the Warren County Sheriff's Office say a Front Royal man is dead after being pulled from the water at the Bentonville low water bridge. 

Deputies say they received the call around 4:52 p.m. Wednesday for the report of a cardiac arrest. The 53-year-old man had been pulled from the water by family and construction workers in the area. 

The victim, Jeffery Vaught, had been filling buckets of water to use on his farm when the incident occurred. Vaught was taken to Warren Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

The exact cause of death will be determined by the state medical examiner's office. Deputies say the death is being handled as an accident. 

Warren County Fire and Rescue, along with the Warren County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.
