Prison Holds Ceremony to Honor Prisoners of War

Roxybury Correctional Institute held a ceremony of remembrance to honor prisoners of war and soldiers missing in action.
SHARPSBURG, Md. - Roxybury Correctional Institute held a ceremony of remembrance on Friday to honor prisoners of war and soldiers missing in action.

Incarcerated veterans held the event inside the prison walls, in the middle of the compound. There were many speakers, including State Veterans Affairs Secretary Ed Chow.

"We're always doing something, walkathons, like today I realized we are the only jail in the United State that has a POW-MIA memorial like this," said Henry McCurry, institute veteran.

Organizers say inmates take great pride in the program, and they're hoping to continue the day of remembrance for years to come.
