Sentencing Pushed Back Again in Sexual Assault Case

The sentencing for a Martinsburg man who plead guilty to sexual assault was pushed back again Monday in Berkeley County Circuit Court.
BERKELEY COUNTY, W.Va.- The sentencing for a Martinsburg man was pushed back again Monday in Berkeley County Circuit Court.

Christpher Dawson pleaded guilty back in May to six felony counts of malicious assault and other counts of domestic battery and sexual assault. In August of 2012 he was accused of beating and choking a woman in her home, sexually assaulting her, cutting her hair and attempting to break her finger so she could never wear an engagement ring.

Dawson faces a 15 to 60 prison sentence.

Court officials say a 60 day evaluation has been put in place to help aid the court in sentencing. No official date has been set yet.
