Shepherdstown Film Festival Gets Ready to Kick Off Fall Season

Organizers with the Film Festival Committee are looking for competitive short film entries at its launch party, September 20.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The Shepherdstown Film Festival is getting ready to kick off the fall season, working to raise recognition for independent films and film-makers.

Organizers with the Film Festival Committee are looking for competitive short film entries at its launch party, September 20. Teams can enter to make short films at the launch party, however officials say the new twist this year is each team must use a prop that's given to them at the launch party in their film.

All films will be submitted the first day of the film festival, and all ages are welcome to enter.

"This year the themes will be pride, patience and pulp, and that will be whatever the filmmaker's decide the words mean to them," said Shirley Calhoun, Shepherdstown Film Festival Committee member.

The Shepherdstown Film Festival says it's looking to engage more Tri-State area colleges, and even elementary schools, in the future.

The Shepherdstown Film Festival runs October 4 - 5, 2013.
