MONT ALTO, Pa. - Its the Christmas season, and locals from the Mon Alto area are in the giving spirit.

Folks gathered in Mont Alto, Pennsylvania on Monday for the Christmas Child Project. It's a project where children around the world receive gift-filled shoe boxes for Christmas.

The project is part of the Samaritan's Purse International Relief Program, which also deals with disaster relief and the World Med Mission where doctors and nurses donate their time to help kids around the world.

"These little boxes are going over 100 countries, and they'll go into the nooks and crannies of the world. The children have nothing," said Loretta Tharp, area coordinator.

There are 3,000 drop off locations in the nation and the Mont Alto location is expected to reach 40,000 gift boxes by the end of the week.
