WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. - Fire crews from all over Washington County responded to a silo fire Wednesday morning.

It happened around 9 a.m. on Fairview Road near Clear Spring.

When fire crews arrived on scene, they say there was heavy fire inside the silo.

They say the property owner had called in a demolition crew, as the silo was set to be torn down.

Ian Swisher with the Maugansville Volunteer Fire Company said they believe a crew working inside of the silo Tuesday might have caused the silo to catch on fire.

"They were in the process of tearing down the silo. They think a crew working yesterday might have cause a spark and caught the silo on fire," said Swisher.

Officials say the demolition will continue throughout the night.
