Hagerstown, Md. -  The snow started falling just after 6 a.m. Tuesday morning and is expected to pick up throughout Tuesday evening. The temperatures are also expected to drop even lower come Wednesday.

The advice is to stay inside and if residents must go out, be careful and aware of the roads.

Hagerstown Public Works says nine snow and salt trucks hit the streets around 9 a.m. to treat the roads.

For many children in the area, it is a snow day. Many schools in the four-state region, including Washington County Public Schools, are closed.
