State Police Investigating Christmas Morning Homicide In Franklin County

Officials with Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a homicide that happened Christmas morning in Fayetteville.
Fayetteville, PA - Officials with the Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a homicide that happened on Christmas morning.  According to officials, two men were shot following an attempted robbery at a residence located along the 1000 Block of Mount Cydonia Road.

Police said the incident happened around 5:15 Wednesday morning, when 21 year-old Janorris Hughes arrived at the residence with a rifle and attempted to rob everyone who was inside.

Officials say that's when 36 year-old Terry Fulton began to fight with Hughes.  During that fight, Fulton sustained three gunshot wounds.  Fulton and Hughes both fled the scene.

At that time, Mickle Shaffer, who owns the residence where the crime occurred, took the rifle used in the fight, and sought out Hughes.  Police said Shaffer shot Hughes in the lower back.  Hughes was pronounced dead on the scene at 6:48 am.

Fulton is being treated for his injuries at York Hospital.

Investigators said Shaffer was arraigned at Judge Cunningham's Office. He has been charged with Criminal Homicide, and is being held at the Franklin County Jail.  He was denied bond.

WHAG has a reporter on the scene, and will have updates as they become available.
