SAVANNAH, G.A. – The Hagerstown Suns (1-3) got shutout for a second straight night on Friday, losing game four of the South Atlantic League Championship Series to the Savannah Sand Gnats (3-1) 2-0. With the win Savannah claims the 2013 South Atlantic League Championship.

The lone runs in the ball game were scored in the fourth inning. Suns starter RHP Dakota Bacus (0-1) walked three of the first four hitters he faced in the frame to load the bases with one out. Then LF Stefan Sabol came through with a double to left to drive in two, which turned out to be the difference in the ball game.

LHP Steven Matz (2-0) got the start and win for Savannah by going 5.2 innings, and giving up four hits and two walks while striking out nine. Bacus suffered the loss for Hagerstown, lasting four innings and giving up two hits to go along with the three walks while striking out four. RHP Beck Wheeler gave up just one hit in the ninth to record the save, his first of the playoffs.

The Championship for Savannah is the first since 1996, and the first for the Sand Gnats as an affiliate of the Mets. Hagerstown has never won a South Atlantic League Championship.
