Tractor Trailer Accident Shuts Down I-81 for Hours

A tractor trailer accident caused one lane on I-81 northbound to shut down for nearly five hours Sunday evening into Monday morning.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Md. - One lane of I-81 northbound was shutdown for hours after a tractor trailer rolled over on to the interstate. 

Deputies with the Washington County Sheriff's Office say the crash happened around 10 p.m. Sunday. They say the tractor trailer rolled over near mm 5 in Hagerstown, near Halfway Boulevard 

An initial investigation revealed a car traveling in the right lane, crossed into the left lane and swiped a tractor trailer. Deputies say the truck traveled off the roadway and overturned in to the highway's median.  

Officials with the Washington County Sheriff's Office are still investigating the accident. No injuries were reported.

They say I-81 fully reopened early Monday morning.
