Two Men Arrested in High Speed Chase Near Rt. 40

It happened around 2:42 p.m. Monday in the area of U.S. Rt. 40 and Hawbottom Road.
FREDERICK, Md. - Two men are now in custody after deputies with the Frederick County Sheriff's Office say the duo led police on a high speed chase in Myersville.

It happened around 2:42 p.m. Monday in the area of U.S. Rt. 40 and Hawbottom Road.

Deputies say they attempted to initiate a traffic stop, however the vehicle failed to stop and a short chase ensued. They say due to the unsafe speed of the vehicle, the deputy disengaged from the pursuit but did continue in the same direction from a safe distance.

Deputies say shortly after the driver and passenger inside the vehicle were seen bailing out of the vehicle on U.S. Rt. 40 and fleeing on foot. They say the two men were apprehended, and taken in to custody a short time later.

The investigation is ongoing.
