Two Similar Incidents Hours Apart Not Related, Police Say

Frederick Police are investigating a robbery and an attempted robbery that happened just eight hours apart. Police say they do not believe the two crimes are related.

Frederick, Md. - Frederick Police are investigating a robbery and an attempted robbery that happened just eight hours apart. Police say they do not believe the two crimes are related.

The first incident happened around 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Rhode Island Court. The victim told police he was approached by a group of men after leaving a friends house.

“When he was leaving his friends house he was accosted by a group of black males that ended up assaulting him and taking some of his property,” said Frederick Police Sergeant Joe Hayer.

Police say that group of men got away with cash and some other personal items from the victim. The victim in this robbery was not injured.

Around 2 a.m. Monday, Police say they were called to an attempted robbery in the 100 block of Willowdale Drive.

“The victim was approached by a group of Spanish speaking men,” said Sgt. Hayer. “He as assaulted but they were not able to get any of his property.”

That victim was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. Frederick Police say they’re looking for eight to ten men involved in these crimes.
