Two Taken to Hospital in Crash on I-70

It happened on Saturday, Jan. 18 around 12:13 a.m. on Interstate-70 westbound, west of Maryland Route 75.
FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - Troopers with Maryland State Police Frederick barrack say two people were taken to area hospitals over the weekend in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate-70.

It happened on Saturday, Jan. 18 around 12:13 a.m. on Interstate-70 westbound, west of Maryland Route 75.

State police say the driver, Marshall Dokes, 24, of Winchester, Va., was traveling along the roadway when for unknown reasons, went off the road and struck a tree. Police say Dokes was injured and taken to Meritus Medical Center.

A passenger inside the vehicle, Marlena Maddox, of Winchester, was injured and flown from the scene by MSP helicopter to the Shock Trauma in Baltimore. State police say it appears speed was a contributing factor into the cause of the crash.

Interstate-70 was shut down for a short time Saturday while the MSP helicopter landed on scene before one lane of the interstate reopened.
