JEFFERSON COUNTY, W.Va. – Two people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries early Tuesday morning after a one-vehicle accident on Charles Town Road in Jefferson County.
Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office say the accident happened around about one mile south of the intersection of W.Va. 9 and Charles Town Road.
The car had been traveling westbound towards Charlestown when it left the surface of the roadway, struck an embankment and crashed into two trees, according to deputies on the scene.
The driver was taken to Jefferson Medical Center, while the passenger was transported to Winchester Medical Center with traumatic injuries to the leg area.
At this time the sheriff’s office is working to subpoena blood work to see if alcohol played a factor in the crash.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
